Blog # 132 Are you Treating Yourself Well?

How are you treating yourself these days; with love and kindness or stressing out to the max and beating yourself up for what you are doing or not doing?

This week, we’re focusing on self-compassion—treating ourselves with the kindness and understanding we often reserve for others.

It’s easy to be hard on ourselves, especially when we feel we’re not measuring up.

But self-compassion reminds us that we’re all human; doing the best we can with what we have.

One practice I find helpful is to pause and ask myself, “How would I comfort a friend in this situation?” Then, I try to offer myself the same compassion, kindness and advice.

Remember, being kind to yourself isn’t a luxury, it’s essential for your emotional well-being.

Self-compassion is simply giving the same kindness to ourselves that we would give to others.

Ways to Practice Self-Compassion Everyday

Tip 1: When you make a mistake, talk to yourself as you would to a friend. Offer yourself understanding and encouragement instead of criticism.

Tip 2: Take a “self-compassion break”. When feeling overwhelmed, place your hand over your heart, take a deep breath, and say, “I’m doing the best I can, and that’s enough.”

Tip 3: Write a letter to yourself offering kindness and support, especially during challenging times. Reread it whenever you need reassurance.

Action of the Day: Whenever you notice self-criticism creeping in, pause and replace it with a gentle, encouraging thought.

From the Power of Positivity

These points are things I try to do daily; but most of all to take time to stop and listen to what it is the body and emotional body needs from me in this moment.

Staying grounded neutral and in present time and in lots of amusement, makes the practice of self-love and compassion such a joy!
