Blog #153 Time for Mercury Retrograde Again!
Everyone either laughs or cringes when they hear Mercury is going retrograde again.
First time this year that Mercury has gone retrograde was March 14th, 2025 in the sign of Libra. It is really a dance that happens three times a year for three or four weeks at a time. This time it is in the sign of Libra which is ruled by Venus; a powerful air sign that is working toward balance and harmony.
This is a fantastic time to finish up projects, make a plan for new ones and take a breath. The forward push has let up for a few weeks. This is also an excellent time to reflect on the past, and learn from it and let it all go. It’s said that intuition is higher during these periods, and coincidences and miracles can be extraordinary. So be open to the signs and symbols and listen to your inner guidance.
WHAT IS “MERCURY RETROGRADE”?
Due to the way our planet’s orbit interacts with the orbits of the other planets, they might sometimes appear to be traveling backward through the night sky with respect to the other planets from our view point from Earth.
This is, in fact, an illusion, which we call apparent retrograde motion.
Three times a year, it appears as if Mercury is traveling backwards. We refer to these periods as times when Mercury is in retrograde motion, or simply
“Mercury Retrograde” These times in particular are traditionally associated with delays, missed communication and frustration. Think email and text blunders, missed phone calls and crazy mixed up travel plans and appointments.
When you have a few planets in your Natal chart like I do that are ruled by Mercury (Sun in Gemini, Moon in Virgo and Jupiter in Gemini) all ruled by Mercury or if you have aspects to Mercury, you may feel and experience Mercury Retrograde much more than others do.
Personally I feel it is a powerful time to breathe, meditate and communicate with my God Self and my Guides; and excellent time to check in with myself and what I am creating.
WHEN IS MERCURY IN RETROGRADE IN 2025?
In 2025, Mercury will be in retrograde motion during the following ranges of dates:
· March 14, 2025 to April 7, 2025
· July 17, 2025 to August 11, 2025
· November 9, 2025 to November 29, 2025
WHAT Can We do WHEN MERCURY IS IN RETROGRADE?
The planet Mercury rules verbal and written communication, travel, contracts, automobiles, and the Tech world, proclamations, affirmations, intentions, and promises.
So, when Mercury is retrograde, stay grounded and centered and let things flow. Remain flexible, allow extra time for travel, and avoid signing contracts if possible. Double check your email’s and texts responses, check in with reservations before you take that trip. Confirm your appointments and be kind and patient with everyone. People can feel frazzled!
It is a great time to review the past year and plan ahead, but wait until Mercury is direct again to make any final decisions.
