Blog #55 All Our Amazing Spiritual Teachers!

Everyone we meet and everything we do generates a spiritual learning experience from the moment we are born on the planet. Everything is our spiritual teacher on this sweet and challenging planet of learning; even watching a Hummingbird feed or Butterflies on a flower or our dogs at play or the Dolphins surfing in the waves at the ocean. All are teaching us something if we are awake and aware. We learn from our family and friends to our teachers, neighbors and our pets; as well as, all our fellow human beings, and of course the incredible natural world around us.

Besides my mother and father and brother and all my family and step family and their loving guidance and encouragement, my first spiritual teachers in this life were my guides with whom I would communicate telepathically every day and at night in my prayers and ask them lots of questions.

When I was six years old, my mother and I first went to the Science of Mind Church in Hollywood. She had heard Dr. Joseph Murphy on morning radio at 6am on the way to work and started listening every day.

One Sunday we drove an hour to the church and sat in the front row and Dr. Joseph Murphy was speaking and sharing his sermon. Of course at age six, I did not totally understand what was being said, but it all felt very familiar and everyone was so loving and giving. I could feel his words as he spoke and the light around him and his aura were so bright, when we left, I felt so happy and content. We continued to go every Sunday, and after Sunday school I would always join my mother for his sermon.

As I got older, we began to read his books and go to many of his seminars. He was so positive and his words were so powerful and healing. My mother would place his quotes around the house so we could see them all the time (on the bathroom mirrors and refrigerator…). Home became a more peaceful and loving landing place, having positive and loving thoughts to focus on. I remember Dr. Murphy saying: “Be yourself!” and “Embrace that you are an instrument of God!”

I still keep post it notes around my home as reminders and encouraging words to stay focused. Try it; it is like having a personal cheerleader!

Dr. Joseph Murphy was an Irish born American author and speaker, who wrote more than 30 books, including “The Power of Your Subconscious Mind”. He and Ernest Holmes were considered to be the pioneers of the New Thought movement. His quotes are often inspiring and thought provoking, challenging us to consider the enormous oneness of life.

Here are a few of his inspiring quotes:

“Just keep your conscious mind busy with expectation of the best.”

“The only path by which another person can upset you is through your own thoughts.”

“Every thought is a cause & every condition is an effect. Change your thoughts & you change your destiny.”

“Busy your mind with the concepts of harmony, health, peace, and good will, and wonders will happen in your life.”

I am so grateful to all my family and friends, teachers, students, readee’s, couples and neighbors for their love and support in my growth in this life time. I have learned so very much from all of them and all of you. You have been such a blessing in my life.
