Blog #72 What Are Your Most Favorite Bits of Advice?
People often ask me, what is my favorite piece of advice that I have received? There are many that have transformed my life and that I use every day.
I remember my first teacher, besides my incredible mother, was Dr. Joseph Murphy, who said to me when I was about seven years old, right after his sermon: “Be yourself and embrace that you are an instrument of God!” I have said that to myself often throughout my life. I used to use it almost like a mantra, as a reminder to myself of my life path and purpose in this life.
In Sunday school I learned as the Master Teacher Jesus taught “Ask and you will receive and knock and the door will be open to you”. I have been meditating almost every day since I was 15, and daily I ask for guidance and would see the door open to me and I would choose to listen, trust and follow.
I love so many of Louise Hay sayings: “It’s only a thought, and a thought can be changed” I have thought about this quote seems like a million times and it has helped me to pause and look at the truth of a situation.
This simple truth is so empowering because once you really take it in, you know you can always make your life better just by changing the way you think. So many of the challenges and problems that we think we have are really created by our own thoughts. They say, we have over ten thousand thoughts a day, and many of those are negative ones that we choose to think about ourselves or our circumstances, when in our every day they aren’t true at all.
But I guess my most favorite quote of hers is “I love and approve of myself!” Which is so important for all of us to remember
Another powerful reminder was from my wonderful teacher, Michael J Tamura, who taught in class many years ago that has always stayed with me: “You are here to remember who you are in this life; the eternal limitless spirit of love that you are”.
Staying in present time, right here and now I am able to connect and listen to my spirit and be guided to my next steps. Remembering every moment we are here as a Spirit having a human experience and expressing who we are.
Take a few minutes and think about your favorite pieces of advice and why it rings true for you and probably always will. Think about how this amazing advice has transformed your life through the years.
Truth always inspires us and sets our creative power free.
Write down your favorite quotes or advice…and keep it close by your bed or taped to your computer and let it remind you daily of the incredible spirit that you are! Or create one of your own.
Life is a Gift of YOU Expressing YOU every day!
