Blog #52 Feng Shui - just a little!
I love Feng Shui. I have been studying off and on throughout my life; taking courses and reading many books on the subject. I am not an expert, but over the years I have had a few different Feng Shui Masters come to my home and make some suggestions that have really made a profound difference in how the energy flows and how I feel in my own home.
When I do a deep spring cleaning and I do a little House Healing, I go through each room and clear out any old stuff that I have out grown or that doesn’t bring me joy in my new clean space. I like do a little basic Feng Shui in each room.
Always love to begin by creating a nice new grounding cord for myself from the first chakra all the way to the center of the Earth. Then become nice and centered and neutral and ground off and release any worries, fears and doubts …and just let it all go. Bring in a big gold sun of life force energy, healing and wholeness fill up my body and aura.
It’s pretty easy to do a simple Feng Shui on your home. Sit in each room and say hello to the room. Then look around and see what does and doesn’t bring you joy. Here is another great way to de-junk and then give the items away or donate what no longer inspires you.
What Is Feng Shui?
An ancient practice by definition: to arrange the pieces in living spaces to create balance with the natural world, this is what it means to Feng Shui your home. The goal is to harness natural energy forces and establish harmony between us and our environment.
A Bagua (see top photo) is the Feng Shui energy map to be superimposed on the floor plan of your home. The Chinese word "Bagua" translates to mean “eight areas.” Each of the eight areas relates to a different life circumstance, such as family, wealth, career, frame, love, creativity, helpful people, and knowledge. And each of these areas has corresponding shapes, colors, seasons, number, and earthly elements. At the center of the Bagua is You, representing your overall wellness. There are several Feng Shui schools of thought. All of them use Baguas when analyzing your home.
Place the Bagua map over your homes floor plan and have the front door on Career/Life Path point.
Bagua (as in the photo)
Career/Life Path- Element Water
Knowledge & Skills- Element Earth
Family & Health- Element Wood
Prosperity & Wealth- Element Wood
Fame & Reputation- Element Fire
Love & Marriage & Self Care- Element Earth
Creativity & Children- Element Metal
Helpful People & Travel- Element Metal
Look and see what each room represents and add items to that room that support that part of your life: Like the room in the far left corner of the house is Prosperity & Wealth, you can place a beautiful jar of coins in the far corner of the room, live plants where life and abundance can flourish and a gratitude/miracle jar where you can put in miracles that happen throughout the year. I read the pieces of paper from my miracle jar each New Year’s Day.
Or the Love & Marriage far right corner of the house put pictures of you and your beloved or you and friends or decorate with hearts or whatever is a symbol of love for you.
In the travel space (right front room of the house) place pictures of where you have traveled to or wish to visit someday.
I love to update my family pictures yearly along the (far left middle wall) of Family & Health space. It makes me feel like everyone lives a little closer.
To Feng Shui just a little, is a beautiful powerful way to support yourself and your family with loving encouragement in each room to add to the incredible energy flow to whatever you are creating in your life.
Using the five elements of Feng Shui in each space is another profound way to increase the energy flow of earth, metal, water, wood, and fire. Coming from the Taoist tradition, the elements are interrelated phases in life that work together to create a complete balance.
Then after doing a little Feng Shui on your home, sit in the living room again and notice the difference in how your home feels-lighter, more calm and tranquil and more like you. Bless your home with love joy and miracles and all that you would like to create.
There are many amazing books on Feng Shui, and finding a fantastic Feng Shui Master to come to your home can be an incredible healing.
